I Have been looking into getting a new hot air station for a while now. Been stuck between getting the Quick 861DW and the Best BST-863. Been leaning more towards the Quick. But at the moment I’m stumped between which would be a better investment as both are relatively priced the same

You should take a look at the Atten ST-862D! It’s basically the same as the Quick 861DW, just a bit cheaper. I’ve been using it for about a year now on GPU repair, and it’s done everything I need it to. Although an IR BGA machine would be preferred, I can even do core swaps with an IR preheater and the Atten.

Louis Rossmann has a video on a comparison between the ST-862D and the 861DW, you should check that out as well

Hello to all, i have Atten and it is very good hot air station. Advantage is that you have a button (start/stop) on handle of the tool.

Look for a 1200w hot air station because sooner or later you will realize the 1000w is not enough specially if you decided to work on multi layer boards such as graphics cards. Best is a great machine. I have 1000w and 1300W from quick and I hate both. The 1300w quick has a screen that turns white after 5 minutes of use and you do not know what temperature you’re on. the 1000w is not enough when it comes to working with thick boards and I have it up on the shelf as you see in the videos. BST-863 is a great station and compatible with Quick Nozzles. You can read more at https://northridgefix.com/product/best-1200w-hot-air-station-intelligent-lcd-touch-screen/

              Hi
I have also the atten-862D and it does all the work you will ever need.
I have been using it for everything, gpus, all kind of motherboards even thick military motherboards.
Its 1000W but more powerful than most 1200-1300W stations and cheaper, I really recommend it.
There are a lot of reviews on it on youtube.

                  Hi everyone, I’m Marco.
for large gpu I built an ir heater with quartz heater 1200W, arduino for P.I.D temperature control and solid state relay.
to preheat the board 120/180*C. then I go with hot air from above.
i do it as a hobby and i can’t get big finances for professional tools. thanks to northridgeFix x great videos !! and great competence.

i’m using Quick 2008 it’s just 700watt, but doing well at all of my works. choosing a hot air gun always depends on what are you working on, on a small board like cell phone and other small board, i think 700w is more than enough. BTW i’m working on small device like android and apple so, hope that would help you.

In India quick 861dw is considered as a god of smd
