I got one of the NF.MINI soldering kits with the 3 tips the other day and it has been an amazing experience. Solder adheres to the tips like it should, unlike so many other brands. The tips are the perfect size for very small work and the ergonomics of it are perfect. The little on off button is great in that it seems to sense a touch rather than needing constant pressure. Move a finger off it and it instantly cools down. Even though it's small it heats larger joints and ground planes really fast and holds a constant temperature. I absolutely love this thing.
I have been having good results with mine in some testing. Are you supposed to hold down the button while working? I though it was more of a toggle button. I do find mine going to sleep a lot. When it works, it's awesome though. Am I operating the device incorrectly?

You have to hold it. But, it seems the button is touch capacitive sensitive so just barely touching it causes it to come on. I was surprised at that too but I find I like it better than an on off toggle because it cools down fast and I don't accidentally leave it on. That helps prevent tip corrosion.
Thanks for the explanation. I also just watched the new video Alienware Ripped EDP Display Repair using NF.mini Solder Pen video.
Alex goes into detail there as well on the just needing to "touch" as opposed to needing to "depress" the button. This should make using the pen even more enjoyable.
Thanks
Good to know. I didn't realize it was explained in a video. I must have missed that one. I just figured it out by use. I absolutely love this thing. I used it again today. My favorite tip cleaner is a bit of a Magic Eraser pad that's slightly wetted. The tip comes out looking new with a couple swipes. I read that in a comment somewhere here or on one of the videos and tried it and damn if it didn't work like a charm.
My mom spent her entire work life at Bendix/King and Garmin and eventually did work and rework under microscopes. I showed her the NF Mini today when they were over for Christmas. She gasped and said, "My God if we had had that at work...". She loved the size and the controls.
