Hey,
I'm just getting involved in some hobbyist GPU repair. I found that my 600W hot air is almost useless at removing MOSFETs from more power hungry GPUs with huge ground planes.
I'm looking to get a BEST BST 863. My question is - will the BST 863 on its own be enough? Or do I also need a preheater from the bottom?
hi you need station example sugon 8620dx and you will not have problems
Graphics card motherboards usually have a lot of layers which makes it difficult to de-solder components off them. Even a tiny 201 resistor can be challenging to remove. You will need a good stable hot air station with at least 1000w and a big nozzle for maximum heat transfer. I don't find it practical to use a preheater because as soon as the board is removed off the pre-heater, it will run very quick.
