Howdy!

I have a Samsung Galaxy A51 (SM-A515F) that is stone-cold dead and won't charge. Poking around with the multimeter shows dead shorts (0.00 ohms) on a few capacitors and inductors (marked in green), and a low resistance of 0.035 ohms on two other components (marked in orange). View the attached file/schematic for both sides of the board.

There's no short on the battery connector. When I connect power and try to turn the phone on, it draws ~0.400 amps for a split second, and during that time looking at the thermal camera, the main S537 Power IC (U500) gets hot. So thinking it might be the issue but not 100% certain. This power IC is also where most of the shorts are located. There are no other obvious signs of damage on the board or to components. What do you think or suggest? Any help is much appreciated.

Thank you.

If you have access to a rework station, blow some hot air all over the board and clean thoroughly with IPA. If it still doesn't work, try reballing/replacing the power IC.

@rizzi87 Thank you. I've ordered new power ICs so I'm waiting for them to arrive. I'll also give a try at essentially reflowing the board with the hot air. I'll post an update in the upcoming weeks with my results.

I replaced the power IC with a brand new one but it's still the same issue. The first thing I did was check to see if the shorts were still present after removing the original power IC, unfortunately, they were all still present on the board.

Any other advice? I could use it. Thanks.
