Laptop model: Lenovo SL400

I am interested in repairing my old laptop.

I have confirmed that the motherboard is the cause. When I press the power button, the power button will light up but there is no video response. I also tried plugging it onto an external monitor, issue stays the same. The CAP lock did not light up as well.

How should I do testing with a multimeter on a motherboard? Thanks so much!!!

Unless you can do the microsoldering to replace parts, you might look at getting a replacement motherboard from eBay.

Your best bet is looking at the videos on the YouTube Northridge Fix channel (which brought me here). The are too many things to say about what to test with a multimeter to make a good post.

I presume you already disconnected all of the peripherals in case they are bad, and removed the battery and tried with only the power supply?
