Hello from Japan 🇯🇵
I'm a big fan of your videos — I always watch them and learn a lot.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience.
I'm currently working on repairing an ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15 GA502RM laptop that won’t power on.
The EC chip (ITE IT8252E-248A) gets extremely hot immediately after plugging in the adapter.
Do you have any advice on how to troubleshoot this issue?
Also, would you happen to have the BoardView file for this model? I'd be really grateful if you could share it, or point me to where I can find it.
[Device]
ASUS ROG Zephyrus G15 GA502RM
[Symptoms]
-
Laptop does not power on at all
-
No LED or fan activity when adapter is connected
-
EC chip (ITE IT8252E-248A) gets hot immediately upon connection
[Already Checked]
-
AC adapter outputs 20V normally
-
Voltage is present at the DC jack
-
Same behavior occurs even with battery disconnected
-
Haven’t tested for shorts around EC yet (planning to)
[Questions]
-
Is the immediate overheating of the EC (IT8252E) a clear sign that it's damaged, or could it be caused by a shorted downstream component?
-
Does anyone have the BoardView file for GA502RM, or know where I can get it?
-
In this kind of no-power condition, especially related to EC, what are the key components or voltages I should check?
-
If the EC is confirmed dead, would replacing or reballing it typically restore power? Any advice from your experience would be appreciated.
Thanks again for your amazing work. I really admire your skills.
