A Logitech c270 webcam that has a well-known flaw that causes it to give a white screen when used.
After physical inspection of the main board and looking up the issue online, I discovered that in order to get it working (giving actual image) I have to slightly bend the board underneath the main image sensor. The image is stable and perfect as long as I'm holding onto the bend.
The first thing came to my mind was there sensor needs a reflow because of lose solder joints underneath.
The second thought was the PCB layers being defective, which is gameover I guess..
Any thoughts?
I really hope that Mr Alex sees my post and talk about this subject in a future video 🙂
Update:
After further diagnostics I discovered that a very specific corner of the image sensor on board needs to be pushed down in order to make contact with the pads on the board (I think)
So again, my question, is it safe to reflow the sensor by hot air or is it going to be damaged by the heat? Any ideas appreciated
