Hi,

My first post here. Watching @Alex all the time on YouTube.

I am trying to repair DELL G3 laptop with dedicated graphics. (SELEK_N18P). When randomly checked there are multiple shorted caps around both with CPU and GPU. When I inject voltage I see they get warm (inject on shorted cap close to GPU, GPU gets warm, inject near CPU, CPU gets warm)

CPU @1.5V 4.4 A

GPU @1.5V 2.2 A (and increasing slowly)

Voltage injection shows no other hot components and seems like only GPU and CPU gets hot.

Laptop turns on, keyboard backlight etc. but no display at all.

Any thoughts?

Hi Yacrub,

When you say shorted CPU and GPU are you talking beeps in diode mode or reads direct to ground in resistance mode?

If you are doing these things because of diode mode then you'll probably find they are alright as these will be low impedance (won't drop much voltage) items.

How low is low? 1ohm, 2ohm? 10ohm? On the scale of kOhm, those are low.
