I have a 5 year old Asus ROG gl702vm model laptop. After working just fine, it suddenly would not charge. It is dead and I cant get it to power on. I first testes if my adapter was faulty. It had constant 19 volts. But when i plug it in the power port and check voltage in adapter it suddenly has below 0.5 volts. Why?
I tested 2 mosfet right at power port. I measured resistance between power mosfets gate to source and found out it had shorted gate to source. I also got low resistance (51 ohm) between gate and drain. I suspect i need to replace one of the mosfets but I cant find replacment. Number on mosfet was M3058M 636 51e and i tried to use alltransistors.com to find replacment with not luck.
Is it probable that my laptop is not charging because of a shorted mosfet? Or could it be a capacitor aswell?
Where does northridge get mosfet or know what mosfet fits to motherboards? Ebay, aliexpress? What are the most important parameters i need to have the right mosfet.
Thank you for answers!
Here is the data sheet for your MOSFET:

I would suggest looking elsewhere as 51ohm is quite high for a short. I'd say it was something further down the line that has shorted/failed. Quickest way to check is to inject voltage and monitor under thermal cam. Otherwise it's a case of having a look at the board and measuring out what has failed.
