im working on a HP Envy 360. 15m-es1013dx

A screen repair was performed and tested to be working, Tech said he closed the laptop and secured the back plate and then it no longer turned on after that

When pressing the power button the power light will come on for between 3-10 seconds and then turn off this can be repeated a few times until there is no response what so ever. Unplugging and repluging the battery will reset this and allow it to happen again a few more times

Ive tested 12.2v at the battery, And 19.5v charging. Im lost on where to go from here or what to start looking at/testing.

ive tried basic trouble shooting such as reseating RAM and SSD, Also unplugged all non critical flex/components and tried to the same effect

Have you checked the board for visual damage as it sounds like they have done some sort of "long screw" style damage or knocked some components off of the laptop

Not sure if embedding works here, So i linked them as well.

Noticed this 2.2ohm resistor did not have continuity, Replaced it with one that did and it instantly blew. Replaced again to same story.

So i removed the 2R2 and also the cap underneath it to rule out them being bad. and i can test to ground on all the pads i have put a red X through, Which is leading me to believe the chip to the right is bad? i tried searching all over to find out what it even is and cannot find anything. Having a pinout to confirm if its suppose to be ground would be nice, Or even a replacment one to rule it out as well would be cool.

Im not sure if im on to something here? or if im just lost

Not necessarily as the capacitor and resistor are in parallel. The chip itself could be bad or it could be something on the other end of that via. Looks like the chip is QFP so I would just remove it and see if your short goes away. If it does, then I would suspect the chip. If it doesn't then you can just put it right back and look elsewhere.

@matrs i ended up removing that chip. Short went away, Computer then "booted" and threw a dictionary of error codes (to be expected) but that makes me about 99% sure that the chip is to be at fault. i now need to ID that chip as i cant seem to find much. From my search it seems to be made by Richtek. But as far as that goes im at a dead end with it

@terrelljames91

That's good news then. At least it boots now. I don't see a link to a picture of the chip in question so we can't help you identify it.
