Can anyone tell me which sensor is being used in the microscope cameras being sold here? I know originally Alex purchased his camera and it came with the IMX290 sensor. Recently there has been a big issue with these cameras that are being sold on ebay/aliexpress. All the listings now from LAPSUN / EAKINS & many other vendors are claiming IMX290 but they are not. All of the microscope cameras are identical to his with auto focus and non auto focus are claiming IMX290 but are actually IMX185's/IMX307's/IMX385's. All of these sensors I have listed from my knowledge do not have the same video quality under low light or when there's reflections. I have personally tried the IMX185 camera and it was terrible. I have also tried the IMX307 camera. The IMX307 is much better but is still slightly behind when it comes to video quality compared to the IMX290 in my opinion. I know 5 people as of now who have been scammed trying to buy a real IMX290 camera from vendors in china. I was told by one vendor that they do not make the IMX290 anymore and this has been the case for 2-3 years now. If you unscrew the 4 screws from the back or front of the housing of the camera it will slide out and the PCB board has the sensor model printed right under the sensor.
Alex if you read this you may want to check your cameras to be on the safe side. When you purchased those from the manufacturer if they told you that they are indeed IMX290 you may want to verify. Just incase they told you one thing and really sent another. I instantly knew when I turned my camera on that something seemed different. I purchased just the camera from LAPSUN. I will attach my picture for an example.
