Hello, what is everyone's preferred method of removing solder from through holes? Particularly on thicker boards with higher layer counts such as GPUs and high end motherboards. Does anyone have experience/opinions on the vacuum desoldering tools? I've replaced several PCIex16 slots on motherboards and spend way too much time wicking low melt solder out.
For larger holes, I typically use a manual solder sucker. This will remove most of the solder and following up with wick will finish the job. Otherwise you end up needing too much wick. If the above still does not work efficiently, you can add a little low melt solder to the mix prior to sucking it out. The low melt will remain liquid longer.
