Is this a RAM chip for the GPU?

Hi!

While disassembling my HP pavilion g7-2222sg i noticed these chips placed around the GPU (see attachments).

According to this datasheet, it is a 1GB DDR3 SDRAM.

But I counted 8 chips, so I am assuming that the chips memory should add up to a total of 8GB VRAM.
This seems to be too much, as the laptops datasheet states that there is only 1GB dedicated VRAM (and my computer only detects 1GB aswell).

Is my assumption wrong, that these BGA chips are GPU RAM chips?

Thank you all for your time!

1Gbit = 128MB

128MB * 8x chips = 1024MB (1GB VRAM)

Datasheet says 1,073,741,824-bit, not byte, so these are actually 128 megabyte modules.
