I’m getting the feeling your using more of a gel type alcohol rather than typical rubbing alcohol from drug store. When I use typical iso alcohol from Walgreens, no matter if I use Q Tip or the brush, I leave a sticky leave behind. Currently im not doing real work, just practicing on donor boards till I pass the SCIENTIST level.
Thank You Alex, and if anyone else knows the answer for sure, feel free to answer!

I would think he is using 91% or 99% Isopropyl alcohol. Maybe he will confirm which one he uses at a later time.

ive seen him pump it from a pump bottle, its probably a dumb question, which goes against what I tell my customers that there are NO dumb questions LOL.

The “pump” he uses is an alcohol/solvent dispenser..

I use 99% isopropyl. If you can’t find 99%, look for 91%. Anything below 91% should not be used for motherboard cleaning as it contains too much water.

We bought a gallon of 99% medical grade Isopropyl on Amazon. Works good. For *really* stubborn stuff I use a little bit of non-chlorinated break-parts cleaner which is mostly acetone and MEK, but you’ve got to be really careful with ventilation and not getting any on you. You’ve also got to be careful with the break-parts cleaner around a lot of platic parts (particularly polypropylene caps or anything made of styrene) as it can either melt or otherwise damage them.

                  All the best,
                  Marc
